Universidad de La Salle, in partnership with the University of California, Davis, and Universidad Internacional del Tropico Américano, has been awarded a 100,000 Strong in the Americas grant for their groundbreaking project, "Diversifying Cacao Landscape: Knowledge and technology transfer for climate action and agroecology to contribute to the food system in Colombia."
This transformative initiative will provide underprivileged rural Colombian students with the opportunity to study sustainable cacao production at UC Davis. Through hands-on experience in research centers and laboratories, these students will gain invaluable knowledge and skills to address critical challenges facing their communities.
By focusing on climate action, agroecology, and food system strengthening, the project aims to:
• Mitigate climate change impacts through sustainable cacao production techniques.
• Promote environmentally friendly farming practices that benefit the ecosystem.
• Empower local communities and contribute to a more resilient food system in Colombia.
This collaboration between leading academic institutions demonstrates a commitment to addressing global challenges through education, research, and community engagement.
